Over the past 25 years, Volunteer Lawyers for Justice has built a powerful community of volunteers who generously give their time and talent to ensure access to justice. With April being National Volunteer Month, we’re putting the spotlight on a few of those incredible volunteers.
Continuing the celebration, today we recognize Valiant Abello, Manager, PGIM Compliance at Prudential Financial. Valiant volunteers with our Children’s Representation Program and had this to say:
“I volunteer with VLJ because it allows me to give back to the immigrant community to which I belong and to whom I owe so much.
To me, ensuring access to justice looks like a playing field where every participant has access to the same tools, expertise, and institutional knowledge that many of us take for granted. Serving VLJ clients allows me to learn new skills and meet new people, constantly expanding and challenging my comfort zone."
Thank you, Valiant, for giving back while making New Jersey a better place to call home!
During National Volunteer Month, we invite you to renew your commitment to pro bono. Whether you’re a long-time volunteer or looking to take your first case, there is a place for you at VLJ. Contact Emerald Sheay at esheay@vljnj.org or visit vljnj.org/why-probono to get started.
