Happy Pro Bono Week!
’Tis the season for celebrating all things pro bono. This week, during National Celebration of Pro Bono, Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ) will feature some of our amazing volunteers whose generous donation of time and talent ensures access to justice.
Today, we celebrate Susan McGahan, Assistant Vice President - Senior Legal Counsel at AT&T. Susan volunteers with our Debt Relief Legal Program and ReLeSe (Reentry Legal Services) Program. If that weren’t enough, Susan also spent over a decade serving on VLJ’s Board of Trustees, including four years as board chair. Susan shared her thoughts on the importance of pro bono and why she volunteers with VLJ:
“After more than 15 years of pro bono work at VLJ, I’ve seen firsthand how vital it is for attorneys to give back. Pro bono service not only ensures that everyone has access to justice, it also fulfills our ethical responsibilities, strengthens our communities, and provides personal and professional growth. It’s a powerful way to make a positive, lasting impact.
I volunteer with VLJ because the consumer debt and expungement clinics allow me to empower individuals, restore hope, and help clients take meaningful steps toward a brighter future.”
Thank you, Susan, for harnessing the power of pro bono with us!
