VLJ assists low-income persons with civil legal matters including divorce, bankruptcy, consumer debt, special education, landlord-tenant, guardianship and wills. In addition, VLJ, through its ReLeSe program, assists individuals with criminal records with drivers’ license issues, municipal court matters and expungements.
VLJ DOES NOT provide assistance in any criminal, immigration or domestic violence matter. For referrals in areas of law VLJ does not cover OR, if you do not meet the eligibility parameters for your particular issue below, click here for a list of other resources.

Disaster Legal Response Program: With generous funding from the Robin Hood Foundation, McCarter & English and Merck, VLJ created this program to provide direct legal services to the victims of Super Storm Sandy and to create a legal response plan for future disasters. Currently VLJ is prioritizing victims who have legal issues relating to FEMA benefits, insurance, unemployment compensation and landlord/tenant issues that relate to the storm.
Free legal clinics have been established in Hoboken and Monmouth County. (Click for upcoming clinic dates in Monmouth County, Hoboken, Jersey City and Ocean County.)
